The berries at the farm were delicious today. It was 90 degrees, so the farm was not crowded and we had the blackberry bushes all to ourselves. We picked 4 1/2 pounds with very little effort since so many of them were perfectly ripe. It was enough for 3 big blackberry and peach crisps and plenty to snack on also.

Swim Carnival
The end of swim lessons is also followed by a swim carnival. A couple of hours of games are followed by a pizza and pot luck lunch then more games and good byes to the swim instructors. Both Braeden and Teagan had a wonderful time.

Martha's Vineyard
We went to Martha's Vineyard for the day. We explored Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven and visited with our friend David. Teagan didn't remember the island, so it was fun to introduce her to it. Matt and Susan were off island, but hopefully we will see them soon!

Races at the Beach
Today we went to Kalmus Beach for inter-beach races. All the kids who take swim lessons are invited to compete. The points are then tallied for the winner of the Barnstable Beach Cup. This year the winner was Wequaket--the first time in at least 30 years! Braeden was a big part of that with two first place finishes and a second place finish in the three races he swam. Teagan had a great time and had so much fun with her instructors and friends at a new beach. At Kalmus you can see Hyannis Harbor with beautiful boats in the water and ferries departing and returning. It was a bit tricky getting there since streets were shut down for Eunice Kennedy Shriver's funeral service, but we made it. And you can't blame all the people whose lives she touched for wanting to say thank you and good bye.
